Proof by David Auburn

Chicago Fusion Theatre (CFT) opens its 3rd season with David Auburn’s 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning drama Proof.  Ranked as the most produced play of the past decade, CFT offers Chicago audiences a unique look inside this familiar play. The production plays October 13-November 14, 2010, at The Royal George Theatre, 3rd Floor Gallery Space. The press opening is on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.

Proof centers around Catherine who sacrificed her youth and formal education to care for her father, a mathematical genius, during the worst of his mental deterioration.  He leaves behind 103 mysterious notebooks, Catherine’s estranged sister and a former graduate student for her to sort out. At the heart of the play is Catherine’s struggle to determine how much of her father’s genius or madness she will inherit.

David Auburn, a Chicago native, received a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Proof. Itopened Off Broadway in May 2000, transferred to Broadway in October that same year and ran for an impressive 917 performances. Proof quickly became the most produced play of the last decade, and now returns to Chicago audiences after 4 years.
