This Fall, Chicago Fusion Theatre (CFT) invites you to The Boy in Black by Tony Meneses. A romantic comedy at its heart, this first of CFT’s 2011-2012 season of works by Meneses is a story about finding the color in a world of grey- whether that means sharing it with someone you love or embracing a shade all your own.

Director Emma Peterson brings Meneses’s captivating script to life on a magically realistic, charmingly minimalist scale. Staged in the Royal George’s intimate Gallery Space, CFT’s trademark aesthetic and original designs embody The Boy in Black in a burst of color, warmth, humor, and familiarity. This world is one of shared moments, of characters with whom we can all identify, and ideas that ring so true to the lovesick in all of us that we can’t help but laugh together.

CFT closed its 2010-2011 season with Big Love by Charles Mee. It was performed at the Royal George Theatre, Gallery Space, 1641 North Halsted in Chicago and will open in May 2011.

Big Love is an adaptation of the early Greek play The Danaids by Aeschylus, which focuses on 50 Greek brides who are contracted to wed their cousins against their will. There is a strong connection between CFT’s mission and Charles Mee’s artistic aesthetic that strives “to get past traditional forms of psychological realism.” The company will showcase the work of Chicago wedding/fashion designers, pastry chefs, modern artists and musicians in order to continue to build our artistic community and expose new audiences to a variety of arts in the spirit of the company’s mission.
